The Microsoft Graph service and the Microsoft Graph API are part of the Microsoft Azure cloud service. You can run the Microsoft Graph API on any Microsoft cloud platform, such as Azure, on-premises systems, or Google Cloud Platform. However, to make it easy for you to connect to the Microsoft Graph, we launch it on the Microsoft Azure cloud.
You can find the service in the Microsoft Azure console by selecting Azure Services in the left pane, then Services in the left pane, and finally Services in the left pane. The Microsoft Graph service will then appear in the list of available services.
When running the Microsoft Graph service on Microsoft Azure, you need to take a few steps before accessing your Microsoft Graph data.
First, you need to create a developer account on Microsoft Azure. It costs nothing to create a new developer account.
Second, you need to create a service account in the Azure Management Portal. Once you have done that, you can access your data through the Azure Management Portal.
Now that you have created an Azure account and are signed in, you can add your company to the Microsoft Graph and then access your data using the following command in the Azure Management Portal:
Azure Account Group | Graph Services
Click "Add Resource," select the services you want to attach to the Azure Account Group and the services you want to associate with the Microsoft Graph, and click the blue "Add Item" button.
A new tab will open in the Azure Management Portal, and on the left side, in the Workspace > Workspace Profile, click "Customize" on the Edit button.
On the Edit Tab, click on the "Account name" and then click "Modify Account to…" on the Summary tab.
On the account name tab, change the name of your account to "Microsoft."
You can then click the blue "New entry" button. In the Name field, enter your company name. Choose the Microsoft Graph API, add a description, and select a default provider when creating the service in the Provider field.
After you have filled out the form, click "Add." Your new resource will be added to the Microsoft Graph. When you click on the "View" tab, you can see the properties for the new resource.
What Can You Do With the Microsoft Graph API?
Accessing the data from the Microsoft Graph in a variety of Microsoft Office products and services is easy. Here are just a few of the ways you can access the service and data from the Microsoft Graph:
- Microsoft Outlook, where you can browse or edit Microsoft Exchange emails, calendars, and attachments;
- Microsoft SharePoint, where you can view, edit, and update documents;
- As well as Microsoft Teams, which is now part of Microsoft 365
In the Microsoft Office 365 apps you can use in conjunction with the Microsoft Graph, you can access and manipulate the data for Office and SharePoint documents, pictures, slideshows, spreadsheets, and videos. You can also build web content on these Microsoft Graph services.
SharePoint includes elements you can use to create web content on the service and integrate with tools such as Microsoft Live Search, SharePoint Designer, SharePoint Visio, and OneNote.
You can access the Microsoft Graph via the Microsoft Office 365 apps by going to the right-click menu of a Microsoft Office 365 app, such as Microsoft Word, and selecting "Share."
When you navigate to the "Share" menu, click on "add" on the Microsoft Graph Services item that appears.
In the drop-down menu, you will see a variety of different services. Click on the Microsoft Graph service and then click "Add."
A new tab will open in the Microsoft Office 365 application that you are using, and on the left side, you will see a variety of options that you can use with the Microsoft Graph service.
Click the "Edit" button on the right side of the window. On the Edit Tab, you will see options such as Show preview and On the page.
On the Microsoft Graph "Edit" tab, change the "Preview" option to "On the page" and then click "Add." Your new Microsoft Graph service is now added to the Microsoft Office 365 service that you are using.
